What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
Please let us know the Type of event you are holding, ie. private party, wedding or corporate event, also a rough idea of budget, the more flexibility you have with drop off and pick up times the better we can accommodate your needs. We prefer to do a great job rather than the bare minimum, so often we will through in extras like lighting or other small touches to make your event stand out. Please also inform us of any religious sensitivities or if this is a charity or corporate event as you may qualify for special discounts
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would look for value for money rather than the cheapest quote. I personally have been honing my craft since 1995 (aged 17) and have Various qualifications to make sure that not only do I do the job well, but I understand the principles behind ‘best practice’ we use Industry standard equipment. Also a big tip, No single manufacturer makes the best equipment and manufacturers and brands have great models, average models and poor quality models, so have faith that we spend many hours researching the Industry and latest Technology plus visiting trade shows to make certain that the equipment we provide is of the highest standard and is well kept, reliable and the correct spec for your event
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
In The 90’s my brother Phil set up a small hobby business hiring out a mixing console with two speakers to bands performing at local pubs, whilst at University I started tinkering with his equipment, fast forward a year and I Was DJ’ing but also had my own sound system, after the millennium was seen in, I completed a sound engineering course at the city of Westminster college and got funding from the Princess Trust to set up a hire business in London, after the financial farce of 2008 and a move back to Essex I set up again, this time with more investment and a small part time workforce, there is plenty more to the story but suffice to say this is a vocation, providing sound, light & A/V means I live to work, not the other way round. It also gives me great pleasure to advise and pass on customers to one of the many colleagues I have made in the Industry, as not any one company can offer it all! The main thing is that your event runs to time and smoothly with as little stress as possible.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Add to Event can be tough to gain bookings through but I find as times go on I have supplied equipment to a lot of the major venues in the surrounding area, this helps as I know the loading points, the staff, and also They likely already have my public and employees Liability insurance cover note on file and they are aware of our strict adherence to electrical safety and HSE regulations.
This has particularly been the case for venues such as Boreham House, Crandon Golf Club, Greenwood’s of Stock and many more venues. We have a strong link with The Muslim and African communities and have also started specialising in equipment specific to white weddings or ultra smart corporate events.
We always wear uniform and present smartly which we have found is appreciated by customers. Also we do not take ‘publicity shots’ of guests or events without express permission of the host.
