What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, and potential venue, whether it's an indoor or outdoor event. From this, we can use our experience and expertise to put together a suitable equipment list and design.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Always gather at least three quotes from three separate companies, and if possible talk to them on the phone. Companies like ours do this week in and week out, and are more than happy to give advice, even if it doesn't lead to a potential hire. Check out the quality of the brands you are hiring as well, because with this type of equipment, you really do get what you pay for.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Gravesend Sound & Lighting started over 20 years ago, as a record shop, gradually expanding into selling and hiring small mobile disco set ups. The company grew too large for the shop, and with the demise of vinyl, moved solely into the audio visual business. We have a passion for music, which shows, and love everything sound and lighting.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We do get a lot of our business through Add to Event. The easy, yet well laid out quote forms, are excellent for both customers and businesses. We have never had any issues with any of our jobs completed through Add to Event, and have had nothing but good reviews.
