What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event and any special requests or preferences, the estimated number of guests and potential venue and whether it is an outdoor or indoor event. From this, we can determine if we are the right supplier for the customer and can meet their needs.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, I would ask the provider about what services they include in their quote, do they bring their own sound equipment (PA) and whether they provide a DJ service (Manned or Unmanned). Ask the provider about what type of music they do and if there is anything they offer additional to their standard services. Most providers will try and accommodate you as much as they can to ensure you get the best evening's entertainment from them.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

We formed The MxX around 6 years ago, however, we have all been in many other bands for several years prior to that. We all enjoy performing and entertaining. My passion for singing started with Karaoke as a teenager and grew into performing at friends & family functions, which eventually led me to join live performance bands. There is nothing that brings me greater pleasure than a sea of smiling faces and people dancing and having a good time!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I have found Add to Event has been the most successful platform for us in acquiring bookings and whilst we have only been using this service for 3 months, I am very happy with the volume of enquiries we have received. Live Bands are very much in demand but there is also a huge variety of bands to choose from, so competition is tough! Our most recent booking saw us perform at a University Freshers Festival and it was fantastic to see our music reach young people, having a great time in between their studies! We rocked the dance floor and we had great feedback on the night, with some of the students asking us to stay longer when it was time to pack up for the night. This was our 2nd Add to Event booking and we have more in the pipeline, whenever we meet other providers, I always promote Add to Event as I feel this platform has a lot to offer both providers and customers.
