What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide a comprehensive quote, we need the date of the event, an idea as to what type of food will be required ie, a hot/cold buffet, seated dinner, canapé delivery as well as the estimated number of guests and venue address. It is also useful to know if the venue has any catering facilities which we would otherwise need to add to the quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly always have a budget in mind. Quotes can expand exponentially and if you don't know when to stop you'll end up paying for things you don't really need. If you share your budget information with your supplier and tell them what's important to you, they should be able to give you the best value deal. Secondly, be open-minded! Caterers are professionals after all and will know what works best. And if in doubt, ask for a tasting. Thirdly if you are going to need equipment hire, it will be more cost-effective to do this yourself. Your caterer should be able to get you a trade rate with their hire supplier and put you in touch with them directly.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

We did our first bespoke picnic for a friend's wedding reception which took place in a gorgeous London park many years ago. The combination of an eclectic bunch of people coming together in a unique location to enjoy a very special occasion and the personalised feast we created for them was an instant joy and is something we have loved to do ever since.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We think Add to Event is a great platform and always provides us with a large number of potential leads. Unfortunately, all the bookings we have taken have been postponed at least once, some more than once due to events over the last 2 years, so we're looking forward to fulfilling those later this year. But now we're looking ahead to brighter days and Add To Event will definitely be a part of that.
