What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For me to provide a quote I need to know the date of event, number of guests, venue address and a rough idea of the kind of decoration they are looking for.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure you see their work. Not just a website as there are unscrupulous people who 'steal' other cake designers work and pass it off as their own.
Ask whether they are registered with the local environmental health, if they have certificates in health and safety and whether they have public liability insurance.
Also, the cake designer should offer you samples of their cakes to taste.
And remember if something is really cheap and seems too good to be true.... It usually is.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I started making cakes for my children over 35 years ago and it just grew and grew. I went to live in the USA for a while and came back with lots of new ideas and knowledge.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I'm new to Add to Event and looking forward to my first booking so can't really comment on this aspect as yet.
