Cake Makers in Midlothian

The Mad Hatter Bakes provides Midlothian-based cakes, bakes and treats. Everything is home-baked on day of event for maximum freshness! As well as cakes and treats they also serve tea, coffee, juice and milkshakes. Custom bakes/celebration cakes all made to order.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to be able to provide a comprehensive and accurate quote, we would need to have the event date, a short explanation of event type, ie wedding, birthday party etc, the estimated number of guests. We would need to know the venue - indoor or outdoor set up. From this I would be able to put together a package that suits your every requirement.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would advise you to ask about the product they offer, ask about the services they can provide and is it flexible. Find out about their setup. Sometimes I find it easier and more personal to have a conversation with potential customers over the phone or in person as it's much easier to provide essential information.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

The Mad Hatter Bakes was created through a love of cakes and customer service. I started learning in lock down and as my ability grew so did my imagination - we found the perfect project in the means of the Vintage horse box and began to convert it last year. I am still developing ideas and letting my imagination run wild, I hope to expand The Mad Hatter Bakes into a bespoke Cupcake and Cocktail bar. The heart of the business is the family that created it, and I hope to provide the best customer service possible to make every event and cake memorable!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have had a lot of enquires through this platform which in turn have developed into bookings, which has been fantastic! If I had to pick one event so far, it would have to be the Halloween Event at Unleashed Dog Park, Pencaitland. Caitlyn who got in touch with us was lovely, she was thorough in her requirements and has advised she will use us again for the next party/special event at the dog parks.
