What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests and if they are standing or seated, venue location, furniture requirements and if the surface is grass. From this we can use our experience and expertise to put together a suitable equipment list and suggest a layout to suit their requirements.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would check the provider's profile to see what specific product they are offering. Marquees are not all the same - Capris have a stylish, unique shape and fit into tight spaces as they have no guide ropes.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Smart Party Marquees was started 16 years ago as a small family business, primarily at weekends. We have grown after repeat business and recommendations throughout the years. We are now a team of 5 industrious and passionate individuals who thrive under pressure and love being part of the special events that we help create. We are growing every year and will continue to employ local enthusiastic people as we expand.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have had plenty of bookings through Add to Event, but the one that stands out is the wedding at Alcott Farm. We created a bespoke marquee arrangement using 4 of our large marquees which hosted a band, dance floor and 210 guests. We worked into the evening during set up to get ready in time, but it was when we received pictures from the bride and groom of the night that made us realise the enormity and success of the wedding. We were very proud. I would recommend Add to Event as it's easy to use in desktop or mobile format.
