What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide a comprehensive quote to a customer I would ideally like the date and venue of your event and a short description of what type of event you are organising and how you would like my caricatures to feature. As many ideas as you can would be great and I'll be able to provide you with as many details that are relevant to you as possible.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
My advice would be to check what style of cartoon your caricaturist will provide lots do pencil but only a few do digital. I would also check how many cartoons can be drawn in an hour and if that is for full body or head and shoulder drawings. The size of the drawing is something that's useful to know. Big A3 caricatures are great but are your clients/guests able to carry them about during your event. Finally ask what after-event services they provide such as personal website, digital downloads etc.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I've been drawing and doodling since I was very young (over 20 years!! shshsh) My family began to get fed up of me taking photos of them to draw and suggested I attend a few craft fairs to get other peoples photos and maybe even get paid to draw them. 9 years later I'm now drawing caricatures and realistic pencil illustrations of people throughout Scotland and love every minute.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I have had a few bookings through Add to Event, the one that sticks in my mind was at Fraser burgh where I sketched the guests at a company's anniversary celebration. It was an intimate party of around 40 guests so it was nice to spend time chatting and creating lots of cartoons for them to take home. I would highly recommend this site who have always been professional and very helpful.
