What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
When we provide a menu and detailed quote we need to first get a flavour of the style of food you would like or are considering, the estimated number of guests, length of the event and of course where it's being held. If you can let us know what type of occasion it is that's even better!
Let the caterer know if you think you'll need staff to serve the food and whether there is a domestic or professional kitchen at your venue. Often clients will need to hire in crockery, glassware or furniture and this is useful to know upfront.
Our area of expertise is creating the best food and format for your event so the more information we have the better.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Your event is very important. You want a caterer who has listened to your brief, understands your requirements and can provide a seamless service so you can relax and concentrate on being the host! Ask them about similar events they have done, what worked well and what they would recommend.
Food should appeal to all the senses, what works on paper doesn't always work on the plate, so check out their website galleries to ensure that you like their food presentation style.
Finally, check their reviews and testimonials and don't be afraid to ask for references, most chefs are delighted to put you in touch with past clients!
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
My dream was always to cook for people, it took me a couple of decades to make it happen, but I started in 2016 and have never looked back! Working with clients to create a perfect menu, putting together all the organisational elements needed for an event to happen from start to finish is very rewarding and I'm proud of what we do. When you're truly passionate about creating food and get excited by menus and presentation it has to be the best job in the world!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Add to Event is a great platform through which I've had access to new clients in and around London. I have only been using it for a short time, but already I've had bookings with some wonderful reviews. One event that really stands out was a private party for the 60th birthday. The clients were real foodies and it's always great to try and excite experienced tastebuds! They wanted canapés, a modern Middle Eastern style BBQ and some knock-out desserts. Despite torrential rain, the BBQ was wonderful, the guests loved the food and the clients were over the moon!
I've recommended Add to Event to caterers and other suppliers I work with. It's great if you want to have more time doing your core business activities.
