What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
In order for us to provide a quote, we would need to know the date, the time, the location and whether inside or out, style of food and dietary requirements. We would also need to know how many people we would be serving.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would always ask for a tasting, I think it is so important. You wouldn't buy a car because someone said it has 4 wheels and is good, I personally wouldn't buy without tasting the food first and seeing where the caterer operates. I would also ensure that everything adds up, question whether VAT is added to the final bill or is it included, making sure no hidden surprises. Most importantly though, I think I would be keen to meet the Caterer and see where they are, the food is so important on the day!
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Petrus Events was started by myself, Jonny Miller, in 2017. I started it because I was fed up making money for other people who were not putting 100% into selling the product and offering the best service. I am on hand 24/7 and often get late-night emails at 11 pm which is no problem. Having worked up to Michelin Level in the kitchen I've been heading up kitchens for 10 years, whilst also holding the position in a Manor Restaurant which is where Petrus Events is based.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We have had plenty of business through Add to Event, its been remarkable! We have done everything from weddings to birthday party buffets, whilst also catering over 20 BBQs in the summer off the back of earlier successes.
