What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
Knowing what type of event and who is attending is the first step to a successful catering event. How formal or informal will the event be? What is the date and location of the event and is it outdoor or indoor?. An event planner needs to know if any guests have any special dietary needs or Religious requirements for guests following a Kosher or Halal diet. Whether you’re planning a first event or an old hand at putting together catered menu events, it’s important to consider every step to ensure excellent service, food, and beverages.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Catering is often the first or second line item cost in an event planning budget. Your event is important to you and it should be to your caterer as well. Before considering the actual menu options and price list, evaluate how prompt the caterer is when responding to phone calls or emails.
Caterers offer varied menus and pricing structures so that comparing one to another can be quite challenging. Be specific regarding the type of event, the food you would like served and your expectations regarding the menu and the service. A prospective caterer that is genuinely interested in gaining your business should take time to get to know you, learn about your business, and ask many questions regarding the event and your thoughts on the menu.
Experience with the type of event you are planning is important, so avoid the mistake of automatically hiring a caterer that you have used previously for a different type of event. Instead, talk to them about your needs and also seek proposals from other caterers with demonstrated experience in the type of event you are planning. A good caterer that wants to keep you as a client will tell you if they cannot deliver the kind of menu you are seeking.
Look for menus that are current and reflect the latest trends in food and beverage. Discuss other menu options that may be available; flexibility is important as you search for a caterer that will deliver according to your needs and expectations.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
The business was started with a view to provide great catering to individuals and companies to ensure that their day went well. We are a group of foodies and Chefs who have come together to promote and produce great food that you deserve to eat when ordered. We have managed to expand our Private Chef business across the UK in a short space of time and this has become extremely popular.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We have had great success on this platform. Since joining we have had over 10 bookings, that is on average 2 a week. Great support from Add to Event and easy to speak to customers through the platform. We have catered for a large media firm providing canapés and also a private party last minute on New Year's Eve. We had 3 bookings on that day and coped very well. Add to Event has helped our business come along and we hope to go from strength to strength.
