What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To be able to provide a comprehensive quote I would ideally need:
The date you are holding the event.
What type of event it is- wedding, birthday party, family celebration etc.
Where you are having it, so part of the country and the type of venue if you have got that far.
The line up your looking for, so solo ceilidh DJ set up? Live band, what sort of line up? Would you like to include our Highland dancers and a bagpiper?
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure they are a professional band, not one who just does it for a hobby. Professional bands won't cancel you at short notice.
Have they Public Liability Insurance? Are they able to provide a risk assessment and method statement for running the evening? Sounds serious but these all help to keep your guests safe.
Can you go along to one of their Ceilidhs and see them in action?
Use their experience and expertise, what tips can they give you now, well ahead of your event that will make your life easier. What added value do they bring to you as your supplier?
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I’m originally from Inverness, Scotland and have made the East Midlands home for the last 15 years. My ceilidhs started after getting requests for simple, fun non-technical social dances. That then created the Nottingham Ceilidh Club and from thereafter getting requests for weddings and parties Schuggies-Ceilidhs began.
I've now hosted Ceilidhs for well over 100 weddings and the same number of other events - parties, ceilidh workshops and corporate events.
