What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote we will need the following details: The TIME, DATE, & VENUE. we will also need to know how long you would require services and the type of service you require. we have many characters (33 in total) and can provide many packages including mini disco, hair glitter, crafts and so much more!
if there are any specifics your child or event would like then we will be more than happy to create the perfect package for you so please make these known to us.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Please ensure that the Entertainer has insurance and ideally a DBS certificate. also have a look at their reviews, sometimes expensive doesn't always mean the best, cheapest doesn't always mean the worst! Ask for pictures, any entertainer worth having will have plenty of natural pictures of them attending events and parties, however some businesses, like mine, will not take images while at a party due to the protection of children and not wishing to hold images on our files. we are happy to share any images that parents have given us permission to share.
Always look out for the entertainers that engage with all children, many parents find it surprising when an entertainer takes time with children, especially those children with additional needs, and feel they have to apologise. Any entertainer worth having will embrace all the children's needs and capabilities.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Magical Guests was created by a parent for parents. it all started with a simple dress and wig and a voice that could carry a tune reasonably well. A mum friend approached me with the plight that she couldn't afford her daughters one birthday wish, which was to meet her favourite princess, I naturally volunteered and it snowballed from there! I wanted to create a service that parents could afford and children could enjoy! to be part of children's lives and not just perform to them, to actually be one of their friends and guests. it was my grandmother who then told me that "sometimes just being present at a party or event could mean the world to someone, therefore never decline an invite, you may be the magic in the room that brings a special smile, hence the name Magical Guests. It's not the catchiest or the easiest to roll off the tongue but much like the business it's run by a family for families, with all the values that family carries.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I have had many enquiries through Add to Event, some have been lucrative and others not so. I live and provide services to many areas and this platform lets me reach many of them!
My absolute favourite booking was one recently which was a simple enquiry which was for a princess appearance, this ended with us providing the music, entertainment, princess, crafts, smiles and tonnes of fun! The parents were thrilled that they could book everything in one place we even offered to arrange a bouncy castle hire even though this is not a service we provide! It's all about being a platform which makes the stress of a party so much less for the parents and the demand for us as businesses to be constantly on social media and expensive advertising trying to get bookings! The email pings in and if we can do it great, if not we send a decline it's really that simple. so much easier to manage a diary like that.
