What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
We need to know the type of children's entertainment they are looking for, such as magic, puppets, face painting etc, we also need to know the type of venue and location. The date and time the entertainment is needed, and any information regarding special needs is also helpful.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Check out reviews, do your research and make sure you compare prices. Some companies have a lot of overheads if they are employing a number of entertainers on their books and they then pass the cost onto the customer. Check the experience of the people you're hiring, an inexperienced entertainer can lose control of a party quickly.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I started my business with the help of The Prince's Trust and performed my first show in 2004. Since then my business has grown and I have new and regular clients each year. I love working for myself and being my own boss and although it can be challenging at times, It was the best decision I have ever made.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
My first booking on Add to Event was teaching balloon twisting for a large number of girl guides on camp. It was a nice, warm and sunny day and we all had a lot of fun. The children enjoyed learning about the different balloon designs that can be made and even though there were over a hundred kids there and it was very tiring, I had a great day. The children even came up with some spectacular balloon creations of their own too!
