What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

The most important things we need are the event date, the venue and the number of guests. This is vital as we quote per head. If you could also provide a realistic budget that will help us decide what size of fountain would fit you better. From this we can use our 15 years experience and put together a suitable quotation for you.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, make sure you ask the provider what they are offering for the money. I would not want my hair cut by someone who might have cut a bit of hair 30 years ago! Find out if they are insured, pat tested and food hygiene rated, this is most important for your venue as they will ask for this and if the person you have chosen does not have this then they will not be allowed in the venue. Finally ask about the quality of their chocolate, there are many different grades of chocolate - some for cooking and some made just for the job we do. If you find a food service "cheap" it is usually cheap for a reason and corners will be cut. This is massively important not to get wrong if it is for a wedding because that one special day cannot be repeated.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Chocolate Fountain Heaven started in 2002 when four of us took a trip to America for a holiday and at the evening buffet they had chocolate fountains! The chocolate was awful (as most American chocolate is!) but when we got back home we decided we would love to do that job and did lots of research. When we found the perfect chocolate and the perfect team we began to travel to trade shows and show off our wares, we were getting booked very quickly and travelling the UK.

15 years later, we still love our job and want the chocolate fountain hire experience to be the best it can be.
Chocolate fountains are a great alternative to the main dessert during the day or after the hog roast/evening buffet. A fountain will have your guests whispering and getting excited about what we do!

The casino event was one of our favourites, the birthday boy was 30th and he wanted to deal.
