What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For me to provide a comprehensive quote for a client I'd need to know the date of the event, a description of the type of event, an estimate of the number of attendees and whether the event is taking place indoors or outside.

It would also be useful to know if a PA system is being provided, the age range of attendees and whether the client has a rough budget in mind.

Using my 15-years experience in the entertainments industry and my knowledge of different performing environments I am then able to put together a suitable package.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, don't be afraid to ask lots of questions. As a supplier of entertainment it is my job to help you make your event the best it can possibly be. The more questions you ask, the easier it is for me to understand how best to do that.

You will also be doing me a massive favour if you have an idea of what your event is, what theme you are going with and why you're putting the event on. For example, the type of show that's ideal for a 6-year-old birthday party held in a living room wouldn't necessarily be the best option for an outdoor festival. This isn't a 'one-size fits all' business. I have a full range of different products for different venues.

Finally, if you have a budget please let me know. It makes my job easier if I know from the outset how much money we have to work with. I'm a firm believer that there's always a solution to every problem and together we can find it.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have been an entertainer for over 15 years. My very first job at age 18 was as a juggling bartender. It might sound like an unusual role but it taught me that great service is at the heart of a great customer experience. This has remained at the core of everything I've done since and is the foundation on which my own business has been built.

Since those early days I've performed my shows all over the world in a myriad of different venues. From informal living room shows to 3000 seat theatres to music festivals to sporting events to street corners. I've worked alongside celebrities on TV and entertained the elderly in sheltered accommodation.

To be in show business is to be in the people business!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

My favourite booking I've received through Add to Event so far was one I did back in February. I was booked to perform my show at a 30th birthday party. The audience was made up of a real mix of ages from children as young as five through to teenagers, young adults, parents and grandparents. Everyone had such a great time (including me) and the client was over-the-moon with my performance.
