What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the event date, a brief description of the type of event and venue where it is being held, along with estimated audience size, and whether you require sound and lighting provided. We would need to know whether you would like a single act or a full lineup for an evening show. From this we can put together a suitable quote to ensure you can put on the very best event possible.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, ask for reviews from their previous work, we highlight our reviews on our Facebook and Google business page to all potential clients so they know we will provide as we specify.
Ask them what type of acts they would look to put in your venue, and how experienced those acts are, you wouldn't want a relatively new comedian to work on a corporate event for example, for that type of show you would need someone with plenty of experience to keep the audience engaged.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Big Deal Comedy was born out of a conversation between myself and my brother who is an experienced comedian. The comedy circuit wasn't very active in the East Anglia area at the time so we saw a gap in the market. We wanted to provide a good base for comedians to hone their art, as well as providing brilliant shows to the audiences at reasonable prices! So far this has grown to an amazing pop-up club that takes the comedy to the audience! We have bookings with various corporate events over the year along with private events and our very own venues dotted about the Cambridgeshire and Suffolk areas with the hope of adding more each year!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Prior to Covid, we were given the opportunity to help a local organisation with their Christmas party, it was an intimate event with the intention of really spoiling the staff for all of their hard work that year. After an initial conversation with the event organiser over the styles of acts, they would prefer we provided three seasoned professionals for the night and the staff had a brilliant time! It was a great evening and all went as planned.
