What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
I like to tailor-make all clients events individually as one event maybe 2 hours where another may be an all-day 12-hour wedding. That's why the more information a potential client gives, the quicker I can come back with a fair price. The details I like to have are the type of event, venue address, date, start & finish times, outdoor or indoor, number of guests, any specific venue or setting-up info' I would need, any specific music / 1st dance/music no-nos/music tastes. We can then with those 1st details work out a quote and get back to you as quickly as possible to hopefully confirm the booking.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Like all lines of work people know their customers & clients and who they're aiming at. In entertainment and DJ/MC/Hosting/Compere lines of work, there are people who do a great job turning up with a laptop and speakers for a minimal fee - and if you want that, that's great there are plenty of wonderful people who are available. There are also 'premium / VIP' entertainers who have decades of experience, have won awards and have a great kit set-up. Work out your budget and do some research deciding what's best for you, but if you're having a once-in-a-lifetime wedding, party or event, it's always worth it to pay more for the best? x
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
'Danny Matthews Entertainment' was set up after the multi UK commercial radio award-winning breakfast show I'd hosted for 10 years on 'The Bay' / Heart' ended when the station closed down in 2019. I wanted to carry on giving people the opportunity to still hire me for the events I'd hosted whilst part of the radio station such as Morecambe Carnival, Lancaster Christmas Light Switch-On, The Bay Living Awards and The Love Barrow Awards. This then grew further from just the broadcasting area of North Lancashire & Cumbria and I now host & DJ events across the whole of the north including Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside, Yorkshire and the North-East. You can hire me to MC/DJ your whole wedding day, host a charity ball, present an award ceremony and for DJ sets!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Add to Event has turned out to be the best booking system out of about half a dozen I've tried over the past couple of years. It's easy to use, you get instant messages to highlight potential jobs, most of the information you need to provide a quote is there on the page and you get support from the 'Event' team if needed. I've had more bookings through this site than any by far! There was a lovely couple whose wedding had been cancelled 4 times due to covid restrictions and was desperate to find a DJ who would also act as 'Master of Ceremonies throughout the day and be free at short notice on the re-arranged day. I replied and gave a quote and assured her I could take care of everything in one booking. She was so thankful and it was an amazing day almost being part of the 2 families at the wedding.
