DJ Ali Thomas is a professional wedding, party and Karaoke DJ based in Dorset with many years experience, providing a quality DJ service across a vast number of locations and includes the use of the very best quality equipment. Here, advice on how to get the best supplier is shared to help you when planning your event.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide a comprehensive quote, we would require the date, location of the venue , whether it is inside or outside. Details of access are useful, ie weather ground floor or steps. An estimated number of guests and their age range.
Timings are needed. Sometimes depending on the venue, we may need to set up hours before an event and come back to perform because there may be a live band or speeches given before. This prior type of information is crucial for pricing.
With our extensive experience, an accurate quote can be worked out from this.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Regarding DJing (But this would apply to all businesses) I would recommend you check out all their reviews on Add to Event, their Facebook page and Web page if they have one.
In conversation with them ask what you would get for your money if they say they supply "The Works", what does that consist of ?.
Have a telephone conversation with them or meet them in person to discuss details. The less professional ones will not want to do this!
A good supplier will be a great communicator from start to finish and go the extra mile for you.
And be wary of ones that do not reply quickly or keep in touch, this can be a good indication of someone who is unreliable.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I used to and still do meet my father, now in his 80's often at various venues and sing Karaoke. I got friendly with a DJ business owner and he offered me some work and training. They would supply the equipment and bookings in exchange for me giving them around 30% of the profits. This turned out to be uneconomical as their charges were very low and bookings were often too far away. During this time a made a study of many DJ's I came into contact with noting good and bad points and saw how I could make this more professional. I gradually purchased and upgraded more equipment and now have bookings and events all through the year with a positive review every time.
I pride myself on going that extra mile for customers.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
One of our most memorable events so far must be a 60th wedding anniversary party/birthday near Salisbury Wiltshire.
The event was a 1920's themed fancy dress in a huge marquee for over 200 people, with casino gaming tables and a hog roast. The customers required a projection screen and 1920's background black and white film as well as 1920's Jazz.
Later on into the evening we moved through the decades of music and kept the dance floor full all night. We had a great review and feedback through Add to Event.
I would highly recommend Add to Event to others, since joining them I have been inundated with inquiries and the site could not be easier to work with.
