What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to quote for your event we would need to know:

The date and times for start and finish, the end time may be a license condition for your venue and access for set up may be limited.
The type of event. if it is a birthday, or anniversary, knowing the years being celebrated is vitally important.
The types of music you would like to hear, but bear in mind that disparate genres may not hang well together.
Playlists, we have had some cracking playlists sent to us and some that horrified us! A shortlist of 20 songs is adequate to allow us to gauge what you like, and remember that your guests will want to be entertained too!
The venue itself, size is quite important and also whether it is upstairs and, if it is, is there a lift?

With this information, we can quote realistically for your event.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

My advice is to speak to the provider,,, voice communication is vital to get an idea of what you want from your DJ and what they need from you. If it is not possible then avoid them!
Look at a lot of websites, if the web site looks amateurish then maybe the Disco is too?
Does the disco have insurance and regular safety checks on their equipment, many venues will not allow contractors who do not have Insurance and safety certificates. If a Disco is not insured or safe, do you really want them?
Does the Disco have privacy and data protection policies in place? It may sound like an unnecessary piece of "regulation gone mad" but it states a little more about their attitude to you as a customer.
Do they have a wide experience of all genres of music? Although you may be into Hip-hop some of your Guests may not be, think of all your guests, and try to get an idea of what they may like to hear.
We see a lot of requests coming in from customers a week or two before the event, if you go for the cheapest they will let you down for a better paying job, professionals will not do this and following the advice above should help you avoid being let down or disappointed,

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

DJ Diana and I have been operating as a Party Disco since 2010 and, prior to that, we were operating the top floor of a night club like our own business. And also featuring Diana as the main floor DJ on Saturday nights.

Our aim was to provide something different to what the other clubs were offering, we marketed ourselves as a "Night club for Grown-Ups!"

Our aim in setting up our business has always been to offer something that many discos cannot provide, a wide palette of different genres to please the client and their guests, particularly the older guests who often feel left out!

I am a former sound and light engineer for events large and small and have always believed in having the maximum sound quality and Diana has a wide knowledge and love of ALL types of music and relishes the opportunity to play a wide range of music for the delight of all guests.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

As with most bookings the last one is often the best, and I would have to say that the 60th Birthday party we did last Saturday was exceptional!

We love a challenging gig and most of our clients challenge us in different ways, but always in good ways.

We love soul and funk, we also like African music and this event was for a largely Nigerian clientele and they were great, dancing all evening and really partying hard!

We really do love our work in the Disco Business and we love playing for all our clients, after all, what is more cool than to go to peoples parties and playing there, and often our, favourite music!!!

We would recommend Add to Event to anyone looking for a supplier and we are proud to promote the site.
