What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

I need to know the date, time, location, type of venue and budget. I will need to work out how far I will need to travel, so it is vital to know a few weeks/months in advance. With all of this information, I will then be able to give you an accurate and personalised quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Don’t choose based only on price. The internet is fantastic for finding DJs and getting lots of quotes, however it’s not about finding the cheapest. The wrong DJ or an unprofessional service can spoil your special event. Before you make up your mind, contact DJs with different prices and understand why they charge more or less. A good DJ will also often be able to suggest how to reduce the cost of an event by offering different packages or services. Share your budget with them and try to book their services only! Also, make sure you ask for help and advice from them.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I was very lucky. My dad is a musician and got me started at an early age, so I guess you could say I was born into it. I am also a musician, as well as a DJ, and played with my Father for over 20 years at every type of event and venue you can imagine. I learnt so much from him both on stage and behind the scenes. As well as loving what I do, I quickly realised that the best part of the job was entertaining people and helping make the event special for them. Since he retired, I have concentrated a lot more on my DJ business investing in the best equipment and building an excellent reputation with all of my customers. I have recently performed in Australia, Argentina, America, Brussels and the UAE as a musician and DJ.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I have only just recently joined Add to Event. In the past few weeks, I have secured a number of bookings which I am really pleased about. I am now looking forward to meeting my new customers and working for them. The concept was a new experience for me and through using the site I have learnt more on how to quote via the website rather than initially talking with people on the phone etc.

I will continue to use Add to Event and am sure that the number of bookings I get will grow, once I have some reviews and more experience of using the system.
