DJ Chris Allen specialise in Funk, Soul, House and Disco but can tailor their sound for any event and are happy to play different genres. Here he shares tips for when hiring your own DJ.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For me to quote a customer fully, ideally I would need the date, venue and time frame they require me to play. Once I have this info I can give a proper quote. I'm also more than happy to run through the finer details they require for the event ie a playlist, theme for the event, lighting requirements and overall vibe needed.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
It's important to make sure the supplier is on the same page in regards to what you require for the event. Do they share your vision and are they flexible? Specify exactly what you need and what you expect from them.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Firstly I have a passion for music and love to see a packed dance floor buzzing from the music I'm playing! I pride myself I being punctual and offering a more bespoke service to my clients. I always try to play with the mindset as if it was my party or event.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
There is always a good stream of requests via Add to Event, their platform is easy to use and helped me no end in reaching potential customers. A highlight recently was a Soul Funk themed birthday party I did at the Mercia centre in Coventry it was a pleasure to play in front of such a responsive crowd. I use Add to Event as my primary location for new business and will continue to for 2019 and onwards. My friend runs an event company to which I have recommended this platform to, for its ease of use and professional look.
