What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For me to provide a comprehensive and detailed quote to a customer, ideally I require: the date of the event, the type of event, the venue, the start time and end time, what type of set-up they are looking for and if there are any additional extras required such as karaoke, uplighting, or microphone hired. From this, I can use my experience and expertise to put together a suitable equipment package.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I believe that research is a key area. I am aware that a lot of the time the first question is always 'How much does it cost?', but in truth you shouldn't be making cost your first area of enquiry. A lot of my customers book me based on my experience and professional attitude to my business and I feel it is imperative to have a good working relationship with your DJ. You should feel confident that what you have asked is well answered and that any concerns you may have are dealt with without fuss. Your DJ should be able to demonstrate a knowledge of music and be on the same wave length as you for what you are looking for from your event. It would also be a good idea to enquire about equipment. Also enquire about insurance and if they have knowledge about what your venue offers.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started work as a DJ in 1997 at the age of 16 and am still going twenty years on! During my two decades I have transformed myself from a club DJ to a mobile DJ, and have covered event and entertainment management along the way! I went mobile in 2008 with the new late bar licences - finishing at 4am and getting home at 6am four nights a week was no longer fun with a young family!
With my experience across the board in events and bars I can provide a great service whatever the function, giving people a great time and music to suit their tastes. My DJ business is designed to be customer focused with every event treated individually, taking on board all aspects of events from presentation style, lighting and more.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I've only used Add to Event for around a month and have received a couple of bookings for 2018 through the site. As a very busy individual, Add to Event is very useful when the enquiry includes detailed information about the event. I pride myself on good customer service and relations and so sometimes have to ask for more information from the organiser to ensure we are both on the same page.
