What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

Firstly, what types of music do you want to hear. Playlists or guide lists are always welcome. If there are any special requests or song running orders, that's always good to know beforehand. Also, a link to or contact at the venue. I can then liaise directly with them which helps me understand layout, power sources etc. Lastly, any extras you may need i.e. special lighting, booths or smoke machines. I have access to many extras to make your day as extravagant as you wish!

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure they have a standard equipment list. The last thing you'd want is a DJ to turn up with no speakers as they think the venue provides them. Or no microphone and you need to do speeches. Also, ask if they have the facilities to take requests. You may want to hear that one special song and if it's not in the DJ's laptop they should be able to source it by other means.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

DJ Urban Elvis came from natural love of music. I used to collect records and CDs as a kid for my own personal listening pleasure. my first gig was by chance as a friend of mine was DJing a party and fell ill so I had to stand in for him. He talked me through the set and it went pretty well. I loved the reaction of the crowd to music I was playing. So I decided to buy my own equipment and practice at home. I did this for a while then decided to take the plunge and play at a gig of my own. I enjoy all different types of gigs whether it be a club, corporate, private parties, weddings and much more.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I'm new to Add To Event but I've used similar service providers before. I hope to gain lots of contacts through this service. I was recommended by another service provider. I would definitely recommend anyone with a service they want to promote and gain contacts to use Add To Event.
