What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Quality over budget should be a consideration.
Be flexible sometimes a friendly discussion about your requirements is all that’s needed to get what you want.
Communication is key if a DJ is asking about musical tastes and advising how to enhance your occasion ist because of the DJ’s experience.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started in the local youth clubs as a teenager in the late seventies just playing records for me and my friends. As time went on I realised how much I enjoyed music and entertaining people as my experience and confidence with both music and a microphone grew I moved to pubs and clubs. In the mid-eighties, I had enough experience to take on wedding receptions along with private parties. Today I have access to a vast range of music to suit most tastes and the experience to use and programme it into your evening. Over the years the equipment had become more sophisticated and I can supply sound and lighting equipment to suit most venues.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I recently performed at a 50th wedding for a lovely couple. Their main brief was no flashing lights and plenty of 60s to 80s music. After a discussion with them, it was agreed that a few well placed up lights on a static colour to give some atmosphere to the room. A playlist of 30 or so songs was decided on wit me them taking requests and using my experience to add similar songs would be the way to go. On the night the guests were treated to a mix of Ballroom dancing Mixed with party favourites, classic disco and sing-along favourites. Played at a volume that suited this age group.
