Here are shared some tips for when hiring a DJ as well as how the business started.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide a quote to a customer I need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of party (for a Children's Party this should include things like the age of the Birthday kid, and whether any theming is required), a rough idea of the number of invitees and the venue location. From this, I can not only provide a price estimate, but also details of what I can provide that is appropriate.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
My main advice would be to hire someone who asks you a lot of questions. Not every entertainer is suitable for every event and I always ask questions to determine whether I should be offering my services or steering a client to someone more appropriate.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
The Amazing DJ Dan is me doing my best to make your party the best. I have been a DJ for pretty much my whole adult life, but it was secondary to various jobs I had until after my children were born and I decided to follow it as a passion. I have now been helping kids have 'the best party ever' as well as DJing events for all ages for over a decade, I am passionate about enabling people to have a great party. I think it is the best job in the world!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I have had a few jobs through Add to Event now, the majority of my business is word-of-mouth bookings, but this platform fits into my overall marketing and social media plans. I recently had a booking through the system for a Disco Party for an 11-year-old girl and about 20 of her friends who were all with Learning Difficulties. It was great fun and I was told that the kids there often don't get invited to many parties. I have already been booked for similar events by the parents of a couple of the attendees. I don't think I would have found these clients without Add to Event, so thanks!
