What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For a comprehensive quote, I like to know the following: venue location, the event start time and the expected time. I also need to know roughly how many guests are invited and the age range. It is also very important, that I know if the room where I am to perform is on the ground floor and if there are any stairs involved either into the venue or to a room on another floor.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Look at all variables and not just the price. The old saying is true - if it looks to good to be true it probably is. Many times I get calls from clients who have been let down by their chosen DJ and when I ask what they were charging, it is always a low amount. Remember the people you are booking should be running a legitimate business, therefore they should be paying tax on their earnings and they will have business expenses too. A good business will have insurance in place, such as Public Liability Insurance and their equipment should be well maintained and of good quality. You may book a cheap provider and be lucky, but is the success of your event worth the risk?

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I became a DJ sort of by accident. Just before leaving school, I purchased some double decks (back when we played records). A few friends asked me to DJ in their houses for them, and then I started doing local working mens clubs and later hotels and nightclubs. I was also fortunate enough to do two seasons in Ibiza and secured a job working at a local radio station. DJing has been a part of my life since leaving school, and I see it being that way for quite a few more years to come.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I came across Add to Event by accident, as a fellow DJ mentioned it on social media, so I decided to take a look at what it was all about. I have quoted on a few jobs and secured a good number since joining. The enquiry process is quite straightforward and I like how there is a thread of the dialogue between myself and the potential client.
