What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally, we need to know the event date, time, type of event they are hosting, the size of the venue (indoor, or outdoor), music genres, any pre-prepared playlists.
We would also like to know if music needs to be played in sections and also will there be a separate MC (especially for weddings and birthday parties, hen do's baby showers)
This enables us to do some research on past events to provide the best experience by choosing the right equipment needed and set up time.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
As a customer you should definitely ask the DJ whether they are fully equipped for your event. I don't just mean physical equipment, it means do they have the music you need, the right attitude, can they push enough sound for the size of the venue etc. You do not want to hear the music on one side of the hall or have a DJ who doesn't like taking requests or is not punctual. Most importantly find out if the DJ has cover in case they cannot attend due to unforeseen circumstances. For example, we have seen lots of cancellations due to covid.
You also need to ensure that their equipment is Pat tested and insured as this covers them and you in case of any mishaps.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Our business name is Ameelian Entertainment, with the main DJ, DJ Kronixx, we also have 3 other DJs at our disposal. We were born into a very talented musical family and has also been in the hospitality business. We have over ten years experience, local, regional and international. We cater to all events including weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, private parties, hen dos, baby showers, festivals etc. Our library contains a plethora of music from all genres and we also like to update our equipment regularly to ensure we are always providing the best.
Our business started small at first where we provided entertainment to our friends and family for small events such as garden parties, BBQs, small corporate events for our jobs. We then decided to invest more money as we saw that there was a growing market for entertainment services and also we were encouraged by friends and family to build a bigger business as we have the potential from all the great reviews we were getting.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Add to Event is one of the reasons our business continues to strive. Most of our bookings have been from this platform. We have met some lovely people and gained experience through providing entertainment for different events, the best for me was when we won the quote to provide music for a festival. Add to Event is also great for finding and filling those last-minute gaps which is great for business finances :).
