Face Art provide face painting, glitter tattoos and chunky glitter for all occasion and are based in Buckinghamshire but are happy to travel. Read on to find out how they started and also for some good advice when hiring a face painter for an event.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
In order to provide a quote we would need to know the date of the event, what the event is, location, how many guests, what the occasion is and whether it would be indoor or outdoor. We would also benefit to know the age group of the guests attending or who we would be catering for so can take our supplies. It would be good to have an email address as well as a contact number for the person we have left a quote for. There should also be a section where they have to either accept or reject a quote so that we then know whether they are booking us for the event or not so we can then continue to give further quotes for the same day.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The customer needs to ensure that they ask us that we are able to commute to the location in a reasonable amount of time. They should also query the products they are using to ensure they are using ones which have passed the trading standards and are not using cheap copy ones which could cause a rash later on. If they like the work of the provider by looking at the photos but feel the quote is too much they should contact the provider to tell them they like what they see however is there room for negotiation as a lot of the time there is. The customer should also bear in mind that the cheaper quote isn't always the best option so it's worth asking the provider they like if they can do something with the price as it's a quote and can be changed.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
FaceArt had started off by doing face painting at their local village Christmas event for the children and from there the business started off. We hadn't realised how much fun it would be and we started to get bookings through word of mouth.
We have children ourselves and understand how expensive it can end up being when having an event/celebrating a special occasion so where possible we try and keep our prices down but still use the best products we can. We are happy to have an open conversation when it comes to giving a quote and at the end of the day, we want to make it special for the person celebrating so happy to negotiate where possible. The customers are the core reason we have a business and without them, it wouldn't be possible so they're our main focus and try and go the extra mile for them.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Add to Event has been amazing! We have had quite a few bookings through them and have some booked in for future dates.
The best one I have had is where we attending a 4-year-old birthday party and he absolutely loved his dinosaur face painting, we had been booked for face painting however some of the children didn't want it and I could see the customer was slightly disappointed as she was paying for the service however I started doing glitter tattoos on the children which they loved and this was an addition to the service but made it perfect as all the children loved this. We didn't restrict how many the children could have either so this was a bonus for them. For this event we had also received great feedback and review, it's just a shame a lot of the other customers forget to leave feedback afterwards. I have recommended Add to Event to a lot of my friends and family if they are looking for something specific but also to people looking for more customers via a platform.
