What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For me to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, I would need the date and venue of the event, a brief idea of the type of event it is e.g. girl's 6th birthday party, how many hours you would like me to stay and the likely number of guests. It is helpful for me to know if the event is outdoors or inside and whether there will be other entertainment provided. If you wish to have a special theme such as superheroes or fairies that can be helpful to know too.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

If I was hiring a face painter, I would like to see examples of their work and if possible recommendations from other people who had used them before. It would also be important that they were good with children, parents and carers I would like to know that they were using good quality products and what their hygiene routines were between customers. I would want to know if they had current liability insurance.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I began face painting when my children were at primary school as it looked so much fun. All my children are adults now but I still continue to enjoy face painting as it is so lovely to bring a smile to a child's face. I keep up to date with designs and improving my skills through regular practice and I just love being invited to so many parties!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

If I had to choose one event through Add to Event that was really memorable I would say it was a church-run event for disadvantaged children. They invited me because their usual face painter was not able to make it. It all seemed very quiet and I wondered if I would have much to do when suddenly a mass of children and their parents descended and I was kept incredibly busy. I stayed on until every last child had been painted. It was so lovely to be part of the event and I was delighted when they asked me back again last year.
