Pauline's Paints offers not only face painting but glitter tattoos and basic balloon modelling and is available for birthday parties, christenings, children and adult events. Some sound advice is given here when looking to book a face painter for your event to ensure the best service.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
I offer a choice of packages. These packages are based on the length of time required and additional services offered.
The number of guests requiring painting will dictate the time you need to book. I also require any theme you may have for your party and the venue. This information will help me prepare and know what I have to bring along to give the best service I can.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Face painters should be able to supply some pictures of their work. They may not have many, because if the events are busy it can be difficult to stop and take pictures. The pictures should be available on their Facebook page or website.
Face painters should also use professional paints and should be able to give you an example of the makes they use. Not using professional paints could end in children being painted with acrylic paints and creating skin irritation.
A painter should also be able to supply you with an up to date insurance certificate.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
My fulltime job is as a childminder. When I was out and about with my children, I would find myself standing in long queues and paying high prices to find a student sitting and the children being painted with low-quality paints. I decided to try it myself. That was 8yrs ago and I have honed my skills since then. I have built up my kit and when I felt I was ready, I started my business.
Face painting looks easy and I have found that is not the case. I love face painting. I love seeing the children's faces when they get what they want. I love it when the children challenge me with something I haven't done before. And I really love the adults joining in.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I am so happy that I found the Add to Event site. It has given me lots of opportunities for so many parties and events that I would never have been exposed to. I have travelled further afield than I thought I ever would and met lots of lovely families.
Many events stand out and each one has special memories. One that I have been invited back to this year was an open day for a music library 'Music Broth'. The staff and visitors were all amazing and everyone wanted something different painted, including the adults. I was left a review on the Add to Event site and on my Facebook page.
