A Better Plaice provide delicious homemade fish and chips freshly cooked from their mobile fish and chip van and are available to hire for weddings, corporate events, private events, festivals and more.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide a comprehensive quote for a customer we always as a few set questions which are; date and time of event, a brief description of the venue, and whether the guest wants smaller portions, which are ideal for parties, or a more comprehensive menu which would include regular size portions of food, but ideally eaten sitting down.
We then follow this up with the finer details of availability of electric hook up, any special dietary requirements and always let our guests know what the minimum order is to confirm the booking. We would normally invite them along to the van to sample our food. .
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask about the products, can they cater for dietary requirements, how long you want the van to stay at your venue, estimated numbers of people and ideally your budget guidelines.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
We have always been keen on cooking. We started to work in the fish and chip industry five years ago and got an insight into the backend workings of how shops are run and the products they buy. We were keen to use products that we would be happy to eat ourselves and after a year of research, training (with some of the best fish and chip fryers) we decided to purchase a mobile van. A Better Plaice Ltd began in March 2022 and we haven't looked back - it is hard work, great fun and being part of the local community gives us great pleasure.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Add to Event is great, you do get slightly disheartened when you click to send over a quote and already 6 other quotes have been sent however we have picked up some great work from Add to Event and we feel our food is what sells us and of course recommendations from our clients helps!
