Bwydiful provide wholesome street food from their modern street van throughout Swansea, Cardiff and Newport, though their kitchen on wheels can roam further afield if it wishes! Bwydiful place a high priority on fresh ingredients, local ingredients and Welsh ingredients - preferably all three at once. This results in thoroughly Welsh food with a fresh, local taste.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
The more information provided, the more accurate and detailed our initial quote can be. However, there are some basics that we really need to know. The date of the event is crucial as we wouldn't want to waste an organiser's time if it turns out our calendar is already full on that day. The time of service is also important, along with the number of guests and any dietary requirements that are known about to make sure that we can accommodate these in the quote. It's good to know the venue, its facilities and any access restrictions so that we can consider the logistics of the event early. Any initial thoughts an organiser can share about the type of food they'd like are helpful to us as caterers, but we like to encourage them to consider other options and to think beyond the traditional.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Challenge the provider to make you as enthusiastic about the food they offer as they are. Street food providers tend to focus on doing one type of food and doing it well. A great street food provider will be passionate about what they do, working closely with local independent producers to bring you the best quality food. We love picking up warm bread rolls directly from the guy who baked them and chatting to our butcher about how things are going on the farm - after all, how can you be excited about your product if you don't know anything about where it came from? Don't forget, it's the quality of the food available that your guests will remember.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
We love a good feed! Friends for years and both fed-up of the 9 to 5 grind we decided it was time to take control. We both have a passion for great, home-cooked food, so combining this with our years of working in customer service was a complete no-brainer. After pitching the idea to our wives, we took to the streets to do our research and what a great summer of eating that was! Fast forward 2 months, we were in our new trailer cooking up a storm at food festival across South Wales. 18 months on and we love all the people we meet and places we get to go. How nice that work is no longer a chore!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
How do you get to have breakfast with the First Minister of Wales? Through Add to Event, that's how! One of the biggest benefits of Add to Event for us is the ease with which it connects us to organisers. We were booked to provide breakfast rolls for over 100 attendees at the official opening, by the First Minister, of a prestigious energy plant in South Wales. The company's CEO had concerns about the speed of service, but we were able to put his mind at rest and smashed out over 100 hot breakfast rolls in just 30 minutes. It was great to see how happy everyone was to have some quality hot food on a cold Welsh morning. Since subscribing, Add to Event has quickly proved to be an invaluable asset to our business, which we have already recommended to others. The site is really easy to use so communicating with organisers is a breeze.
