The Shellfish Pig provide traditional, local and sustainable Cornish seafood and free range pork from their entirely self-contained street food van in Falmouth and throughout the South-West of England. Many of their ingredients are grown in their own allotments, which could be partially responsible for them being awarded the prestigious 'Best Streetfood Award' at The 2017 Food Magazine Awards. Covering events of all types, The Shellfish Pig can create a bespoke menu to your event and guest requirements.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To enable us to give the best and most accurate quote to a new customer we need to understand the customers' event. To understand the event we need to know the date, time, location, number of people attending and any preference on the type of foods they would like.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would advise them to be clear on what they want and expect from their caterer and then ensure you are on the same page throughout the process. If you want the best quality, locally sourced food then any caterer who operates to these ethics will be only too happy to discuss each element of their menu with you. If something seems too cheap to be true, it probably is!
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
We set up The Shellfish Pig almost 3 years ago as we love street food and wanted to bring a bold American style truck to the events and streets of Cornwall. We believe Cornish produce to be the best in the UK so we love sourcing all of our ingredients and supporting local suppliers, showing them off via our dishes at events, festivals and weddings.
