What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
The best information for us to supply a great quote would include the obvious things like date, location, numbers of guests etc, but also information like the nature of the event, for example is it a birthday party for Dad? Specific information about the type of food required and any special dietary requirements would be useful, especially if there are gluten free or vegan dishes required. We can do them all but knowing in advance helps us to arrive at the right price for the customer sooner.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Three things: First ask about the range of food that can be provided, listings on websites and so forth sometimes necessarily need to be brief so as not to bore the reader, the supplier may have a greater repertoire than first appears. Don't be afraid to ask about past events they have worked on and how they did. Second, check out supplier's websites or Facebook etc. See what they post about their business and products and see what feedback they have had, look for recommendations and positive comments.
Thirdly, talk to potential providers about what they do and how they would deal with your event. Ask them what they think of your requirements and see if they have any suggestions to make your event special. A conversation with a supplier could reveal a lot about their operation and really help you make up your mind about the kind of people you want to use.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Aunty L's began as a way of being able to spend more time together. Both of us worked in absorbing jobs which brought us into close contact with many people but which also meant we spent much of our time apart. We bought our little catering van and began the process of developing our business using the personal skills we both have and combining them with our love of preparing and serving simple, tasty and wholesome food. Our outlook is simple, use quality ingredients to produce an innovative menu at decent prices. Served with style and a happy smile!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
This is a difficult one. We have only just joined Add to Event a few days ago and have yet to send a quotation and achieve a booking. However we must say that the whole presentation of the website and the ease with which we can project our business to a targeted audience is outstanding. We are already looking at several potential event requests and we are sure that we will get a lot of work as a result. The professional appearance and ease of use of the website gives us great confidence in moving forward with Add to Event.
