LUX Technical
LUX Technical specialise in event power generation & distribution. We are based in Market Deeping, just outside of Peterborough. They have carefully chosen the famous ‘Pink Generators’ because of their reliability and ultra silent running characteristics, which make them ideal generators for weddings, parties, marquees and stages at festivals. Read on for their tips on choosing a similar provider to avoid nasty surprises!
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide an accurate quote, we require the event date, the event location, what power they require and ideally a floor/site plan so we can provide the adequate length cables. Quite often we don't get an understanding of the amount that needs powering and this causes us to have to go back and forth adding things and therefore increasing the price.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure you look for local suppliers, often you will get a hefty charge for transport which you could have saved. Make sure the company knows what they are talking about and read their Google reviews to make sure others had a great experience hiring from them, so you don't get any nasty surprises.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
LUX Technical grew from a weekend hobby to a now a very well established event production company. We started with school discos and over time our stock list and client list grew. We took over an already existing company in 2009 and turned it into LUX Technical.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We mostly have enquiries about generators. We've had a couple of bookings for weddings and they have run very smoothly. It is great getting to know new people and being able to provide a service for them for their big day. It was a matter of dropping off the generator and setting up the power as necessary and then going back the next day to collect. Without power, a lot of the day couldn't have run so it was great to know we had such a large impact.
