What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide an accurate quote we ideally need to know the date and time of the event, the number of guests and the location. Also, it is very helpful to know if the event is to be held indoors or outdoors if power is available, will lighting be required. Typically we require 3x3 metres for our gazebo if working outdoors, will there be adequate space and are there any difficulties with the site eg. upstairs in a club which has no lift?

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Pork is a high-risk product and needs to be cooked properly so it is always good to deal with someone who has lots of experience in the food industry. Ask to see reviews from previous customers as there are lots of companies offering sub-standard levels of service and also not honouring bookings, we get lots of calls from people who have been let down at the last minute which gives the whole industry a bad name. Also, it is advisable to check that the company you are dealing with has public and products liability insurance.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

We started our hog roast business back in 1989 with my wife and I plus my parents and we concentrated on large scale outdoor events, festivals and shows throughout the UK. We grew tired of the endless travelling and the stress and expense of such large events where the only thing organisers are concerned about is how much rent you will give them for a pitch and they just simply don't care how good your product is which leads to a complete lack of job satisfaction. We now concentrate on smaller-scale local events where we can use our vast expertise to provide a top-quality product to people who actually appreciate the time and effort we put into providing them with our services. The feedback we obtain from our clients really makes us enjoy our business and strive to be even better.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We are relatively new to this platform however we have already had several bookings all of which have gone extremely well. Add to Event is a very handy tool to have at your disposal for looking for work on specific dates where otherwise there might be a blank in your diary. It is the only platform I am aware of that allows you to target work on specific dates.
