The Old Mule Bar
The Old Mule Bar provides a quirky vintage horse box, tastefully converted to a fully functional bar, showcasing fine craft ales, small-batch gins and fine wines. It's an ideal addition to any event, be it a wedding, festival, party or corporate do. Here they share their story plus some tips on choosing a similar provider for your event.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To offer a competitive quote we would ideally need the location, any access issues and power outlets.
The number of anticipated guests, the duration of the event and any bespoke requests ie, favourite beers or cocktails.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Certainly, establish their experience, previous events attended and potentially any awards or formal training.
It's essential that they have a comprehensive risk assessment, and insurances to cover the proposed activities.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Having retired from policing I was seeking a new challenge, I'm a big fan of real ales, and I'm lucky to live near some great breweries and distilleries.
I attained my cellar course and was keen to progress my knowledge and provide an excellent service, thus the Old Mule Bar was born.
We've continually enhanced and improved our service and are confident our bars would enhance any event!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We've picked up several events through this platform, a wide variety which is great, we've attended corporate functions as a "dry hire', weddings as a full-service bar, festivals as a Prosecco and Pimms bar and several sporting events as a combination of the full-service bar selling the venues own stock to give them further outlets and improve sales.
