The Dizzy Mare is a Vintage Rice Horse Trailer that has been lovingly converted into a beautiful, contemporary mobile bar, serving a drink selection tailored to suit your individual event and style. They have some very detailed advice to share on what to ask or look for when hiring a mobile bar for an event.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote we need a full understanding of the event being hosted, as well as the basic details such as event date, number of attendees, type of bar required, venue name or description. Additional information that would be really useful for us is; are we the only supplier of alcohol? Is there another bar at the venue? Are you providing any drinks for your guests (welcome drinks, Table Wine or Toast)? Do you require glass hire? Are there specific drinks you would like stocked? Do you want the bar styled in a certain way, are you wanting your florist or venue stylist to dress the bar?
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Firstly, I would recommend asking the provider what experience they have running bars at events like yours and if they have any testimonials or reviews they can provide. Next, ask for a copy of their bar menu, do they stock quality products and brands aligned with the calibre of your event? Look at the bar tariff, are the prices acceptable for you and your guests? Lastly, check the legal stuff! Every event where alcohol is sold has to be covered by a licence, if you are lucky the venue you have chosen will already be licensed, if not the event will need to be covered by a Temporary Event Notice (even if it is your own back garden), is your supplier able to organise this for you? Are they charging you extra for this? For almost all events we include this in our package, where it is not included we only charge what we pay (currently £21) with no added fees. Is your supplier insured? If the worst happens are you covered? We hold £10 million public, product and employers liability insurance, giving you the reassurance that no matter what happens you are fully covered. A mobile bar is classed as a food business and all food businesses are required to be registered with the Food Standards Agency, ask if your supplier if they are registered and what their rating is, don't settle for less than 5 stars.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Gail and Tony created GnT Bars after their own Wedding Day when they realised it would be a dream to work together providing happy experiences for other people. With Tony's ability to turn his hand to any craft and Gail's 20 years of working in marketing and events it seemed like a great combination of skills. Having searched for the right opportunity we finally set our eyes on The Dizzy Mare, an original Rice horsebox, and it developed from there. Tony spent 8 month's lovingly converting The Dizzy Mare into a contemporary mobile bar fit for any event. Having seen that project grow in demand, he is already working on the Chameleon Bar - the ultimate in flexible bars, it can be resized and styled to individual tastes.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Add to Event has been a great platform for us, we have had a number of fun events, including a Halloween Pumpkin competition, a gin bar for a charity event at a rugby club and a fireworks display for 400+ people in a private school. We've received great feedback, amazing reviews and that's all thanks to Add to Event. We would definitely recommend the site to others, in fact, we already have!
