Based in Romford, R&S Event Services is a family-run business that provides candy floss carts, popcorn carts, ice cream vans, DJs and mobile discos for a range of events from weddings to fairs and birthday parties.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
In order for us to give the client a quote for one of our services, we would need to know everything there is to know! The most important things are the basic ones; the date, the location inc. any special entrances, we would need the full postal address as we always search the address up and of course the times. Lastly, we need to know who the special event is for so if it is a birthday, their name and age.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
We would recommend to research all the product suppliers in the area, look at their photos and their feedback. If researching food, look for their certificates and check if they have public liability insurance.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
My Dad was an ice cream man for many years and my granddad too - so what a better way to carry on the family business! I have always had a keen interest in music, which is how I became a DJ - starting out helping a few friends then I ended up learning the skill. My partner wanted to do her own thing and be independent, so we bought candyfloss & popcorn machines. Now, some years later, we have a 3 in 1 service profile and our motto is "Chase the Dream not the competition", We work 7 days a week some days 18 hours, but at the end of it we can say it's ours!!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We have had many bookings through Add to Event and not one of them there has ever been a problem. We enjoy doing what we do and we believe that we price our jobs accordingly - given the details from the clients we will always go one step beyond to help our customers and their requirements. We are a family run business and with the help of Add to Event, we will continue to grow our business and make it into a great success.
