With a strong local community ethos at its heart, RetroLilly sources almost all of its ingredients locally and serves over 50 varieties of ice cream from a 1970s vintage ice cream van which has been lovingly restored to modern standards.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To produce an accurate and comprehensive quote we need to know where the even is taking place, when it is taking place, what is required of us on the day or beforehand, the approximate number of guests, and if there are any allergies.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

References! Have they done anything like what you're asking them to do before? Ice Cream is a funny business to be in, so find out where its from and if it's local or a national chain (as national chains tend to be flat and boring). We have a fantastic rapport with our supplier and we visit the farms where it's produced, whereas others may be using cash and carry or ice cream produced miles away which has possibly been sitting for months! I know when mine was made because it's always made to order and you really can taste the difference!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I always wanted to be a cool dad, and my attempt at snowboarding failed, so whilst lying on the snow and looking into the sky, I thought to myself 'Ice Cream!'. Then we looked into it, looked into suppliers, and decided I wanted to go local. Before long the refurbishments were done and produce bought locally - within a 15 mile of our base in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have had a good 60% of our bookings through Add to Event. It's a brilliant place! We even now use it to help us in our continuing business! We have just recently completed an event via Add to Event. They struggled to find what they wanted at first, but then they found us and we far exceeded their expectations. It's funny, but we have only ever had good work from Add to Event, and we recommend them to everyone in our industry!
