What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

A professional DJ should either know the type of music required or should be able to work it out fairly soon. Obviously, if your requirements are specific then state it. Also, make sure the mobile disco company is covered by some kind of insurance in the event of an accident and that their equipment is regularly checked. If there are children at your event make sure that the DJ has been police checked. At the same time remember that these things cost money so expect to pay a little more for a quality service.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

My wife and I used to run pubs, and part of that involved providing entertainment for the weekend. After getting some karaoke discs and a few compilation albums, we had our weekends covered. In between working the pub scene I found that providing this kind of service was fun and helped us stay afloat. I like to sing and often get mistaken for Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison or even Eddie Cochran himself - what do you mean they are all dead?! Maybe I don't look exactly like any of them but they would have been grey!
