Nitebeat Roadshow provides a mobile video and karaoke disco based in Leicestershire, covering the Midlands and surrounding area. They have a very energetic style of presenting and this coupled with his musical knowledge, makes the Nitebeat Roadshow the perfect choice for any event.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide an accurate quote, start off by giving a brief description of the event and what you are looking for, for example, "Its a 40th Birthday party for "Bob Smith", its a small gathering of around 70 people to held indoors at (adding the venue and postcode). We are looking to start at 7.30 and finish at 12 midnight on "Date/Year of event"
However, If for example its a wedding and you need an early setup as the wedding breakfast is in the same hall please then specify the times available to set up, or at least advise that the hall will not be available to set up at a specific time.
I always ask, where possible for 2 hours to set up my show, so the information above is critical when quoting.
Lastly any other additional requests, such as I would like Karaoke or uplighters, if it's a corporate function, tell me the name of the company.
All of the above will help give a realistic quote for your event.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When looking for a disco don't necessarily look for the cheapest you can find, there are discos out there that are very cheap, but they will have no experience and the music and light show will be disappointing. This is your event, it's live and can't be replaced, so what do you need to know?
How long has your DJ been in the industry, what experience have they got? Personally, I have been DJing for over 35 years, working in venues all over the world, from Weddings, corporate functions through to themed events and all shapes and sizes.
Look at what lighting and sound they have. You don't want a DJ with a stereo system and a flashing light. Most DJs will have a portfolio of some kind or Website for you to look at before making your choice. Reviews, Yes always find reviews of the DJ, these few words written by past clients can show you, a new client just what you need to know.
Look at DJ's Portfolio and at what the DJ can offer.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Hi my name is Lee Sheff, I started out in this business back in 1983, I was 15, always had a passion for music and lights. Then one day I got a call from a professional DJ asking if I was available to help roadie on a large corporate function. Well Yeah!
I continued to roadie every weekend until I had enough money to buy my own equipment and that's when the Nitebeat Roadshow was born, in 1985.
I did my very first gig, A wedding, in a converted barn at the back of a pub in Herefordshire, it was awesome, I know then that this is what I wanted to do.
I went professional in 1988, doing events all over the UK and some military events in Europe, I was living the dream. The rest I supposed I could write a book on it but nobody would read it lol
Today I only DJ on the weekends, with technology as it is today my whole show, music and lighting is computerised, I run a full video show with Karaoke, 42" screens up to 300" projection (if space allows).
I created my own website which I maintain.
Still living the dream, but only on weekends
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I joined Add to Event in March 2019, since then I get multiple requests coming through each week, some I will quote on some I won't.
Of the work I have quoted I get a good percentage of work from it, everything from Weddings to Birthday parties, even did a brochure launch for over 200 people last weekend where they requested an Orange theme.
The reviews I have received from Add to Event have been amazing, It's nice that people take time out to give reviews and praise that others can use when making their decision on who to use for their next big event.
