Light Up Your Party have over 20 years experience in the entertainment industry and can provide any event with DJs, magic mirrors, dancefloors and 4 ft light up letters and numbers for all occasions from birthday parties, weddings and christenings and including corporate events. Here they provide lots more detail plus great tips for choosing a similar provider for your event.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To be able to quote a potential customer an accurate price I believe the following would be very helpful to any supplier:
Events which have venues booked in only as I've seen people saying just looking for prices which will put suppliers off using credits as the event may not take place.
The actual address of the event, date, time required from and to.
Actual needed items example: 2 numbers 4 and 0, letters MARRY ME, DJ to play a mix of music or pop only music. Budget depending on the request type.
Is it indoors or outdoors ( some suppliers wouldn't do outdoors unless under a marquee with many of their hire items)
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
My advice is to ask questions which all providers should be able to answer. for example:
Insurance (equipment/ liability)? do you have it and can we see a copy of it? If the answer is no then don't use them. PAT tested equipment ask if it's been tested and dates and again a copy of the certification. again if no then don't use them. Safety of customers is important so use providers that have the correct details for trading in this type of industry as if anything happened you know that there is the cover to protect you and the provider.
If booking a DJ or items and you want to see how they're going to look then ask for images or videos of their set up all good/ career DJs/hire companies should have this for viewing on their Facebook or website pages if don't then don't use as the set up could be just a speaker and a light which could not be what they have told you it is. This is also important as the price they're asking to do your booking should be reflected in what they are offering you.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
With over 20 years plus experience in DJing for discos for all ages, and venue types.
Within my family, they are a few DJs/Entertainers so working in the industry is in the blood. From the age of 16, I started going to events with family members and at the age of 20 got my big break and started to build up a DJ set up.
I've always worked in a customer service driven industry alongside doing DJing in the past and believe that its a very important part of any industry regardless of what you do, as repeat customers are how you grow your customer base as they will always recommend you to their friends and family.
I invested in 4ft numbers and letters as well as other items for hire so I could do package deals for all customers saving them time and money.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
All the information was sent for me to view before I used credits to quote for the job. As long as you set your pricing right for the service you are providing then you should get replies from potential customers about your quote and you can contact customers directly on the site to chat further. Smooth and easy to use. I provided details to the customer in regards to arrival times etc and the customer gave me directions to the venue as it was in an off-road location. The customer and family I met were very happy and easy to deal with so the experience was fantastic. I've now placed many quotes for customers to view taking a further 3 bookings already ( only been on 1 week) with a few potential customers looking at booking with us very soon. Great site to use to either fill in any gaps in your calendars or to use full time for all future bookings. I've found that this site has given my business a great boost over the last week for bookings compared to other sites I'm currently using and I'm not quoting for all the work I can yet either so it could be even better.
