What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, I need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, the venue and whether it's an indoor or outdoor event. Also, what is the age range at the event? From this, I can tailor my magic accordingly.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
For a magician, make sure it is not all card magic and not all mentalism. You want a good mix of both. Ask for a recent picture and a recent endorsement. Are they a member of their local Magic Circle? Maybe arrange a pre-meeting with the magician to ensure they fit the bill for your event.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
It started as an extension of my hobby. I knew I was good at it and I am also a good people person, so it made sense to start doing close-up shows. I have always enjoyed entertaining people so close-up magic is perfect.
