What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order for us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, we would ideally need the event date so we can check availability along with a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, and potential venue location. From this, we can use our experience and expertise to put together a suitable proposal and an itemised quotation.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The first thing I would say is that not all marquee companies are equal. So customers should always look beyond price. A good indication of the quality of a company and in turn an indication of the level of service you will receive will be the speed and efficiency that your questions are answered. Every customer and booking should be important to the company whether it is large or small. We are, after all, working in the service sector.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I formed Bay Tree Events Marquees first and foremost because I wanted to run my own business. I originally came from a creative background and I love the idea of creating magical moments that customers will remember for many years after the event. It is a lovely sector to work in and I love to hear how successful the events have been when we return to de-rig the marquees. The face to face interaction with clients has always been of paramount importance to me and the ongoing success of my business.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We were recently booked through Add to Event to supply the marquee and all associated equipment for a 60th birthday party (or 50th plus VAT as the client referred to it!). Work is always harder to come by in January and February, so it would have been an event that we simply would not have secured had we not been a member of Add to Event. It has been a very easy and straight forward process for both us and our client, who used Add to Event for the first time. We continue to use Add to Event to this day as it is great to receive leads direct into our inbox that we may not always receive directly.
