What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

All marquees have a particular requirement to be able to be safely erected, they may only be able to go onto soft/hard ground for instance. It’s really important to know the total dimensions of the area you have available, what type of ground you want to pitch the marquee on and what time you need it ready to go – Not the time bride and groom are going to walk in but the time you need it up and ready for your catering team/decorators/florists need to get in.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Marquees come in all different shapes, sizes, and materials. There is a tent out there for every sort of event. But a bit like different cars they all come with different price tags dependant on what you need it for. About 50% of people who approach us are people needing something quick and, on a budget, to protect guests at a family BBQ in the garden and the other 50% are people looking for something more bespoke for weddings and corporate events. Before you spend too long calling around lots of suppliers, get an idea of what sort of tent you're looking for and what you’re willing to spend. Have a quick research to work out if you want a party tent, traditional pole marquee or stretch tent.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have spent over 10 years in corporate hospitality and 10 years volunteering as a Scout leader. In 2019 I was due to get married myself (unfortunately this was cancelled due to Covid) but it got me thinking about combining my years of experience pitching tents and knowledge of the hospitality and events industry. ‘Mango’ was our family pet, a photo of her can be found on our contact page on our website.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We seem to get a lot of last-minute events – normally due to a change in the weather! But each individual event is treated with the knowledge that for our client it could be the most important day of their lives. I recall a last-minute job came in where a supplier had cancelled 3 days before a wedding.
