What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a detailed and comprehensive marquee hire quote to a client, we need the event date (approx), what type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, and potential venue location. From this, we can use our experience and knowledge to put together a suitable equipment list, example design and quotation.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

As with all services and suppliers, it's about value for money. Will you get what you expect? Pictures on a website are all well and good, but are they the supplier's? Are the testimonials genuine and up to date? Does the company have a track record? Do others in the industry know of them? What about insurance? Do they comply with safety regulations? Do they offer a service based on a personal, tried and trusted basis? Ask around, check Facebook out and look at what events a company has done in the past.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Astra Marquees started in 2006 with the intention of setting up a family business that would grow into something we and our customers could all be proud of. We started small, with a few clients, some regular ones but mostly new, one off clients. Now, however, we have repeat business with clients stretching back many years and others being added all the time. We love working with clients to set up their special occasion, be it a wedding, a family party, beer festival or other event. Each client is unique, and we get to meet lots of people and go to some lovely places. Customer service has always been our focus, and if our testimonials are anything to go by, we've achieved what we set out to do.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I joined Add to Event late last year, and have received lots of leads. As most of the leads are for weddings, the work I have gained is yet to be completed. I receive a steady amount of leads, very varied both in nature and size of event. Every day there seems to be something that is of interest to me, and I look forward to supplying marquees to the clients that have agreed to use me and those that will come along in the future. Once we have our first few events from Add to Events under our belt, we shall update this accordingly.
