What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a suitable quote we need a range of things such as event date, explanation of event type and number of guests. The most helpful for us being a rustic bar is the style of bar you are looking for. Pop up or vehicle conversion is helpful but any additional information on the theme of your event can help us decide whether we are suitable or if we should leave the quotes to more suited suppliers.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly does the bar meet the theme of your event and does it complement the venue? There is no point hiring a converted vehicle if you venue is inaccessible. Many people think that dry hire is a great option as it can work out to be cheaper. Make sure you understand what is expected of you in terms of waste management, glass hire and other add ons that may come once you accept a quote, make sure the offer isn't too good to be true. Your event is run by you so look for services that offer the option for you to have a say in the menu. Finally you want to source a mobile bar with friendly staff, after all they are going to be serving your guests. Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

The Pedal Inn was born with 3 things in mind; Service, Sustainability and Originality. Having run the bar at our own wedding, after a number of years in hospitality, we waited for the right moment to take the plunge and run our own mobile bar business. We wanted something different so built our bar trike, Rusty from fully reclaimed materials and due to demand our modular pallet bar followed very quickly. The great thing about our bars is they can bring a sense of rustic to any event and with Rusty being only 3ft wide, we can access spaces many converted vehicles can't.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

So to date we have just secured our first booking through being on the platform for just 2 weeks. It's difficult to get the balance right and figure out what events to provide quotes for and we are still learning, however this is by far the quickest form of advertisement we have used to secure a booking. I will say that it has been great to speak to a number of potential clients, and understand their needs and receive feedback if we did not win business. The feedback provided by the client we won was very helpful and we will be using this platform in the future as well as do our best to improve and grow the platform.
