What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote for a customer it is helpful to know the type of event, the date and approximate timings of the event, the venue, approximate numbers of guests and if there are additional guests in the evening, if it is indoors or outdoors, if there are any sanitary glass washing facilities, if the bar will be pre-paid, a cash bar or a combination of both and wether any additional services are required such as glass hire/ welcome drinks etc.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask if the provider will apply for the temporary events notice if it is required and ask to see their terms and conditions before booking particularly if you are planning to provide any drinks yourself, ask if the glassware and staff are included in the price, ask to see the drinks menu choice and if you are able to request any particular drinks and ask how many staff they will have at the event, for example you do not want one person behind the bar if you have a lot of guests as this will make for long queues at the bar and disgruntled guests.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I started out in the wedding industry hiring out vintage and quirky props that I had collected, I then spotted a gap in the market for quirky vintage style bars after trying and failing to hire one myself, I launched our mobile bicycle bar Gin Wizz first, then asked my trusty joiner Colin to make me our bespoke hand crafted vintage style bar Albert. As bookings increased, I phased out the prop hire and courtesy of the very talented Colin, I added our shabby chic bar Clementine which is made from reclaimed wood and most recently our bigger dark wood vintage style bar Victoria has joined the family. I love providing customers with a personal bespoke service and ensuring their big day/event is perfect.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I have had many bookings through Add to Event and I find the information provided is an excellent starting point for being able to find out what the customer wants, so we can then tailor our bar to meet their needs. I have recommended it to many of my other contacts in the wedding and events industry, as I receive potential bookings on almost a daily basis. One of the more recent bookings which stands out, was a wedding where we were asked to serve the welcome drinks at the venue where the couple got married and then also provide the fully stocked bar at the wedding reception venue and provide the cocktail welcome drinks there and serve the toast and table wine. The family were extremely happy with the service both in the lead up to and on the actual big day.
